Bringing filleting to the next level
NEW FILLETING SOLUTIONS FROM MAREL STORK POULTRY PROCESSING
No matter the type of breast fillet products being produced, whether for bulk, further processing or retail, Marel Stork Poultry Processing offers first-class solutions designed to enable processors to get the most from their valuable product. For some years, the company's flexible modular systems for filleting front halves (the Stork FHF-XB system) and breast caps (the Stork AMF-BX system) have been the best solutions on the market, not least due to the fact that they have been in continuous development.
Over the past 25 years, the basic principles for creating developments in filleting have remained the same, aiming to satisfy market requirements as flexibly as possible while creating end-products of the highest possible quality with optimum fillet yield. The fact that Marel Stork Poultry Processing today has the largest installed systems base in the world is telling proof of the success of both the FHF-XB front half de-boning system and the AMF-BX breast cap filleting system.
| The Stork Poultry Processing FHF-XB system offers an ever-increasing number of product options. |
Of the hundreds of Marel Stork Poultry Processing AMF-BX breast cap filleting systems installed worldwide, many have now been upgraded with the latest technology, creating not only enhanced product options, but also improved performance. Using recently introduced menu control, it is now easy to tune individual modules from a centrally located touch-screen to achieve the best settings for various sizes of breast cap.
This means, for example, that it is possible to take full advantage of the system's ability to change weights during production, in order to achieve optimum yields. The AMF-BX also highlights any maintenance required by individual units, reducing potential downtime and ensuring that the performance of the whole line remains at an optimum level.
FHF-XB — automatically harvesting first-class fillet products
The Stork Poultry Processing FHF-XB front half filleting system has seen similar development work as the AMF-BX. In recent years, new modules have been added and existing ones further developed. This has resulted in an increase in the number of product options, with unprecedentedly high yields and a minimisation of manual operations. Like the AMF-BX, the FHF-XB is a highly robust and stable system. After front halves have been loaded on the flexible product carrier, all kinds of operations can be carried out, depending of the type of end-product the user wishes to produce. Without the need for manual labour, the FHF-XB automatically places harvested product, for example half fillets, in pairs on a belt conveyor, from where they continue to be processed further.
| The Stork Poultry Processing AMF-BX system now makes it easier than ever to tune individual modules to achieve the best settings for various sizes of breast cap. |
The ability to deliver bone-free fillets is of increasingly critical importance to the poultry processing industry and food processing in general. Apart from obvious issues of consumer safety, the ability to scan fillets consistently for bones before packing can add product value. Using advanced X-Ray technology, the industry-leading Marel SensorX automatically finds bones and other foreign objects in poultry meat, providing a safer, more valuable product, while significantly reducing labour costs.
Smart handling belts
Having passed through the FHF-XB front-half filleting system, fillets are automatically conveyed on a variety of different belts for inspection. Only those fillets which require trimming are handled manually, while those which do not are automatically conveyed to the SensorX scanner. Fillets requiring trimming are presented automatically to an operator, who returns them to the line after trimming, where they are conveyed to the next processing step. A variety of fillet handling solutions are available which can turn pieces automatically in any direction, thereby positioning them for the next process step, such as fixed-weight batching or case-ready packing using a robot.
