Overview
Two in One- Trimming & Grading in One System
Production Value
Designed for the trimming and grading of poultry breast fillets, the Marel TG Flowline increases throughput with material flow automation while improving yield and product quality. Ergonomically designed workspaces for trimmers ensure worker comfort. The system weighs all trimmed fillets individually to predefined sizes and batches while providing individual monitoring of workers performing breast fillet trimming.
Production control
The MPS software provides a foundation for individual monitoring by collecting weights from the flowline and acquiring all relevant data for reporting, including individual throughput, yield, quality, and incentive levels. Individual real-time feedback on yield performance provides a tool to improve yield significantly. All controllers can be accessed remotely from the office or even from a Marel service facility for preventive maintenance or fault diagnostics.
Increased Product Quality
By eliminating build-up with efficient transportation of material, the flowline system virtually eliminates salvage and increases product sanitation. The flowline incorporates random quality checks that result in fewer defects and higher product value. Monitoring of A and B grade products with random samples, has shown to substantially increase the share of A grade product and ensure the right classification for B grade products.

Product Delivery
Untrimmed breast fillets are delivered from manual or automatic deboning. Fillets are gathered into small batches, weighed in a hopper scale, and delivered to the trimmers. The incoming product is allocated to a trimmer as it enters the line. When a trimmer's tray becomes full, the gate automatically closes, preventing further product from entering the workstation.
Trimming
Each flowline station is equipped with a trimming table and pockets/chutes allocated to different resulting products. The trimmed breast fillet is placed in either of the two sensor activated pockets, ensuring the delivery of one fillet at a time. Each pocket has a switch for B grade product.
Secondary Product
Conveyors carry off secondary product such as tenders, meaty trim and bony trim to selected locations.
Quality Assurance
Random product samples are selected for quality checks at the quality assurance station. The QA operator inspects the samples for defects according to predefined parameters.
Weiging Unit
Each individual trimmed fillet enters the weighing unit and the weight is captured for processing. The piece weight delivers yield and throughput information for the trimming operators as well as weight grading information for food service grading or fixed weight retail packing.
Food Service Grading
The Marel Custom Grader ensures that each individual fillet finds a home in boxes or combos that correspond to a specified weight range and product grade.
Net Weight Retail Packing
The Marel CheckBin Grader intelligently creates net weight batches for trays or bags using the patent pending weighing bins for accumulating batches, and assembly line packing for maximum packer utilization.
