20 Feb 2012
As outside temperatures sizzled at 30°C, there was a hot start for Marel on the first day of the Gulfood exhibition in Dubai, with a steady stream of visitors making their way to the air-conditioned comfort of Stand S1 B12, to enjoy live demonstrations of the company’s latest equipment and solutions in grading, batching and further processing.
Among the machines highlighted at this year’s event are the Marel Compact Grader range of economic, space saving graders, and the Multihead Weigher range, on show in the Middle East for the first time.
Demonstrations attracting a high level of interest included a new Multihead IQF concept from Africa, and the repacking of IQF fish using a Marel TargetBatcher.
“As well as activities such as cutting, slicing, filleting, pinboning, there has also been a high level of interest on our shrimp processing solutions,” says Marel exhibition manager Elísabet Austmann.
“Further processing also features strongly, with a team of company professionals on hand to discuss sectors as diverse as sausage-making, portioning, marinating, coating and heat treatment, and the whole team is looking forward to a very busy few days ahead," she adds.
Running from February 19-22, Gulfood is the Middle East’s largest food industry exhibition by far, with this year’s event attracting a reported record 62,000 visitors from over 150 countries, and 3,800 exhibitors.
