Halldór Magnússon
Director of Customer Service
Education: Mechanical Engineering, M.Sc. 1993, University of Washington in Seattle. Mechanical Engineering, B.Sc. 1990, University of Iceland.
Magnusson joined Marel hf in 1994, working as a sales engineer and area sales manager until he moved to the UK in 1998 to found Marel UK. He was managing director of Marel UK Ltd. until returning to headquarters in Iceland at the beginning of 2005 to become regional manager for Asia. Magnusson was appointed Director of Customer Service in August 2006.

Jón Þór Ólafsson
Director of Product Development
Education: Electronic Engineering, B.Sc., 1978, University of Iceland. Science Degree, 1973, Technical University of Iceland.
Ólafsson worked as a specialist at the Science Institute of the University of Iceland from 1978 to 1983 where he began exploring the possibilities of developing and manufacturing scales for the effective control of production in fish processing plants. This work became the foundation of Marel, which was established in 1983. Ólafsson has been with the company from the start, and became a Director of Product Development in 1987.

Kristján Hallvarðsson
Director of Product Development
Education: Electrical Engineering M.Sc., NCSU 1998. Electrical Engineering, University of Iceland 1993.
Hallvardsson started working for Marel hf in 1993 in product development. From 1995 he worked for Marel USA until he returned back to the headquarters in 1998 working in the Product Development. Hallvardsson became a Product Manager of the Portioning group in 2001 – 2006 and Director of Product Development in 2006.

Snorri H Thorkelsson Director of Finance

Thorkelsson was a Director of Finance at Vaki Ltd. from 1992 until 2007. He joined Marel in December 2007 as Director of Finance.

Þórður Theodórsson
Director of Manufacturing
Education: Mechanical Engineering, B.Sc., 1984, Odense Teknikum.
Theodórsson started working at Marel hf. in 1994, as a project manager of sales projects. In 1997, he became Senior Division Manager of the Process Centre, later Project Centre, at the same time acting as a group leader for the Project Engineering Group. In September 2007, Theodórsson took over as Director of Manufacturing.

Pétur Guðjónsson
Director of Sales and Marketing
Education: Electrical Engineering, B.Sc., 1982, University of Iceland.
Guðjónsson worked as an engineer at the Science Institute of the University of Iceland from 1982 to 1984, and taught at the Technical University from 1982-1985. He joined Marel in 1984 as an engineer, among the first group of employees of the company. In 1985, Guðjónsson became the Director of Marel Canada and headed the subsidiary until 1991 when he became Director of Sales and Marketing at the company’s headquarters in Iceland.

Ragnheiður Halldórsdóttir

Education: Mechanical Engineering, Planning and Technology Management, M.Sc., 1995, Technical University of Denmark. Mechanical Engineering, B.Sc., 1991, University of Iceland.
Halldórsdóttir started working for Marel hf., in 1995 as a project manager implementing a quality system according to ISO9001. In January 2000, Halldórsdóttir became Quality Manager and assistant to the Managing Director on various projects. She became Information Technology and Quality Manager in May 2006 and then the Director of Strategy Implementation for Marel Food Systems in May 2007. She continues to hold the position as Quality Manager for Marel ehf., in Iceland.

Ylfa Edith Jakobsdóttir
Human Resource Manager
Education: Work and Organizational Psychology, Lund University, Sweden, M.S., 1999 Psychology, Lund University, Sweden, B.S., 1998 Pedagogy, University of Iceland, B.Sc., 1997
Jakobsdóttir has a background in the psychiatric field as well as in management consultancy projects. She joined Marel as a Human Resource Manager in 2000 and serves on numerous boards while belonging to several professional groups within the field of human resources.
