It is quite crowded at the Marel Food Systems headquarters in Gardabær these days. The occasion? A three-day meeting of the group’s managers. Attending are all subsidiaries’ managing directors and directors along with managers of sales, services and finance. In total, there are approximately 150 managers from 25 countries.

AEW Delford Systems in Britain impacted Marel’s Consolidated Financial Statements from last 7 April, and Scanvægt from last 4 August. “Proforma” sales in 2006 totaled EUR 272 million.

This year's IPE show will mark a new beginning for the Marel Group as Marel, Scanvaegt and AEW Delford will exhibit together for the first time. The three companies have merged in the USA with headquarters in Kansas City where over 100 employees will be working together as a single unit providing sales and services to the US market.

Marel UK and Scanvaegt GB have started the process of merging the businesses. The Managing Director of the merged company is Magnus Olason who was formerly the MD of Marel UK Ltd. The aim of the merger is to become a stronger supplier of quality products to the food processing industry and to build strategic partnerships with customers.
