Marel introduces
new weighing indicator and registration station
Founded in Reykjavík in 1983, Marel has since risen to become one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of high-tech processing equipment for the food industry. As of 2001, the Marel Group operates ten subsidiary companies in Europe and the US, while its network of agents and distributors covers some 27 countries on six continents.
Although the company's production initially involved the design and manufacture of weighing and monitoring equipment, its portfolio now includes a complete range of super-fast scales, software, monitoring equipment, and intelligent portioning and grading modules and integrated systems suitable for use in all major sectors of the food industry.
From the outset, quality and reliability have played a major role in Marel operations. Formal recognition of this fact came in 1997, when Marel hf, the Group's parent company, became the first, and to date only company in its field, to receive ISO 9001 certification for the quality system, covering product development, sales, manufacturing, and after-sales services.
