Marel Food Systems in the UK and Ireland
The operations of Scanvaegt and Marel in the UK and Ireland have been formally merged into Marel Food Systems, with offices in Leicester, Belfast and Dublin.
The company offers a unified sales and service front for three of the Marel Food Systems main brands, Carnitech, Marel and Scanvaegt.

Marel - 3Q Results 2006
Sales for the 3rd quarter 2006 totalled EUR 57.6 million (ISK 5.2 billion), compared with 30.4 million (ISK 2.4 billion) at the same time previous year. Sales therefore increased by about 90%. Since the third quarter 2005, the companies AEW Delford Systems and Scanvægt have joined the Group at 7th of April and 4th of August respectively.

Marel is offering 75,000,000 new shares for sale in a public offer. The offer will be in three parts, an offer to pre-emptive right holders, another to institutional investors and a third to the general public. The shares will be offered for sale at a price of ISK 74 per share. The total selling price of shares offered is ISK 5,550 million.

Growing to Meet Market Demands

It published excellent half-year consolidated financial statements where among other things the company reported that the operating profit for the second quarter was the largest ever, or about ISK 399 million, and that the profit for the first six months was ISK 115 million.

Marel receives IR Magazine awards 2004 for investor relations.

IR Magazine awardsMarel accepted the “Best small cap Icelandic company investor relations”  awards at the IR Magazine Nordic Awards ceremony which was held in Finland on May 26th,  2004. Across the financial world the IR Magazine Awards are recognized as the most prestigious and accurate measure of outstanding performance.


The award is given to the Icelandic company, in the group of small cap companies, that excels in investor relations.  The evaluation is based on survey performed by IR Magazine, where over 5,000 investment professionals and more than 3,000 retail investors nominates companies that have excelled in investor relations. Marel CEO Hordur Arnarsson was also nominated in the Best investor relations by a CEO/CFO category in Iceland.


Mr. Jón Benediktson, far right , accepted the award on behalf of Marel. Accompanying him on the picture are, from the left, Ragnar Hannes Guðmundsson and Halldór Kristmannsson from Actavis, Iceland and Helga Björk Eiríksdóttir from the Icelandic Stock Exchange.
