Another in a series of salmon network meetings took place earlier this year at Carnitech A/S, in cooperation with CP Food machinery A/S and Marel Scandinavia A/S. The purpose of the four-day meeting was to bring customers up to date on the latest in salmon processing, and to train agents and distributors on the equipment. Focus was on the customer during the final two days of the seminar.
Over 100 customers from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Spain, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Canada, and the USA showed up during the final two days. Lars Liabø from Kontali Analyse in Norway delivered a lecture on the future of salmon markets.
The event also had a cultural and social side, as an important aspect of the seminar was cross-border network building. Several customers have already initiated cooperation involving new projects. Customers were also given an insight into Danish culture by being enrolled in the guild of Christian IV, visiting the chalk mines in Tingbæk, and listening to “bandits” telling Danish tall-tales at Røverstuen in Rold.
New as well as established equipment was met with enthusiasm by the customers. Carnitech’s new filleting machine attracted considerable attention; its ability to improve yield was graphically shown during the demonstrations. Marel’s IPM-3 Portioning Machine drew interest because of its great flexibility, and the ability to portion both fresh and smoked salmon. And CP Food displayed its impressive large-capacity P4000 line that places salmon slices on gold plates for party packs. Besides the new products, all three companies demonstrated a wide variety of standardised machines and solutions for the salmon processing industry.
”The seminar was a great success for both customers, agents, and not least of all the manufacturers,” says Lars Jøker, manager of Carnitech’s salmon division. “The foundation has been set for further, prosperous cooperation between CP Food machinery A/S, Marel Scandinavia A/S, and Carnitech A/S, and between agents and the many new contacts we made at the seminar. We will certainly repeat the event in 2006.”
