Solutions to improve Poultry Processing
-Industry leaders in Thailand meet at a seminar in Bangkok hosted by Carnitech Asia.
Poultry processing in Thailand is at a cross-road. On one hand, the avian influenca – the “Bird flu” epidemic – has halted exports of poultry products from Thailand and many companies are struggling to make ends meet. On the other hand, competition from China where labor cost is low is starting to impact the industry.
In order to stay competitive, Poultry processors in Thailand have to automate their processing and carefully monitor quality parameters to improve yields and profit.
Marel has enjoyed phenomenal success in the Thailand market, particularly in the poultry sector. The company Carnitech Asia is responsible for selling Marel equipment and solutions to the Thailand market and to other markets in South East Asia.
Recently, Carnitech Asia hosted a Poultry Processing Seminar in Bangkok where all the key players from Poultry Processing in Thailand assembled. The main topic was to identify ways on how to improve processing and share ideas that had been developed in other markets. The focus was on processing from start to finish; from slaughtering, evisceration and cut-up – to grading, packing and further processing.
Mr. Sigsteinn Gretersson, Managing Director at Marel Australia, spoke on behalf of Marel and stressed the importance of yield improvements that can be achieved by using a Marel Flowline, Graders and portioning concepts.
All in all, this was a very successful seminar. Over 90 people attended from all the leading companies and gave very encouraging comments to repeat this event next year.
