Marel Food Systems in the UK and Ireland
The operations of Scanvaegt and Marel in the UK and Ireland have been formally merged into Marel Food Systems, with offices in Leicester, Belfast and Dublin.

Marel - 3Q Results 2006
Sales for the 3rd quarter 2006 totalled EUR 57.6 million (ISK 5.2 billion), compared with 30.4 million (ISK 2.4 billion) at the same time previous year. Sales therefore increased by about 90%. Since the third quarter 2005, the companies AEW Delford Systems and Scanvægt have joined the Group at 7th of April and 4th of August respectively.

Marel is offering 75,000,000 new shares for sale in a public offer. The offer will be in three parts, an offer to pre-emptive right holders, another to institutional investors and a third to the general public. The shares will be offered for sale at a price of ISK 74 per share. The total selling price of shares offered is ISK 5,550 million.

Growing to Meet Market Demands

It published excellent half-year consolidated financial statements where among other things the company reported that the operating profit for the second quarter was the largest ever, or about ISK 399 million, and that the profit for the first six months was ISK 115 million.

With the success of the check bin concept in poultry, Marel decided to transfer the technology into the fishing industry and now introduces the new CheckBin Grader for fish. Designed to meet the growing demand for highly accurate net-weight grading and packing of fish, the new Marel CheckBin Grader is a robust, sophisticated system that uses intelligent grading to produce accurate batches for packing.

Intelligent Batching Software
The heart of the system lies in its intelligent batching software. The Marel CheckBin Grader significantly reduces over pack, by using weighing platforms that constantly monitor batch weight and automatically send confirmation or corrections to the main M3000 computer.

Minimized owerpack
The system intelligently minimizes over pack, handles fresh and frozen fish, allows for the packing of different packs and can produce both premium and family packs, either separately or simultaneously. The system is also ideal for fish processors who are processing large fillets like IQF frozen fillets and big batches like 10, 15 and 20 lbs boxes. Different box or bag types can be used with the system.
