Marel's Documentation & Localization team recently won awards in the "STC Trans-European Technical Communications Competition 2004" organized by The Society for Technical Communication (STC). The society is an international organisation of technical communicators with over 20,000 members worldwide.

The Documentation & Localization team received Merit Awards in the following two categories:
- in the Documentation Sets category for the M2200 Compact Grader User's Guide and the M2200 Compact Grader Quick Reference Guide
- in the Hardware/Software Combination Guides category for the M2200 P02 & M02 Packing Scale User's Guide
The manuals were evaluated by a jury of professional technical communicators. According to competition rules a winning entry must be thorough, accurate, useful, appropriate, and well executed and to receive a Merit Award the entry must consistently meet high standards in most areas. In summarising their evaluation, the judges stated that:
"This documentation set combines well-structured and well-written content into two publications that are usable and meet the needs of the intended audience. ... A very good manual. Tone and style suit the purpose of the audience. No superfluous information, no redundancies. Clear graphics that really support the text. The documentation set fulfills its purpose well. The result is a solid documentation product that projects a very professional image of Marel hf." (M2200 Compact Grader User's Guide and Quick Reference Guide)
"This manual is attractive and easy to use. It has been written for three types of user: Installer, Operator and Programmer. The information for each is clearly indicated. The awards will be an encouragement for the D&L team in their constant efforts of improving their products and their service to internal as well as external customers.
