Marel Food Systems in the UK and Ireland

Marel - 3Q Results 2006
Sales for the 3rd quarter 2006 totalled EUR 57.6 million (ISK 5.2 billion), compared with 30.4 million (ISK 2.4 billion) at the same time previous year. Sales therefore increased by about 90%. Since the third quarter 2005, the companies AEW Delford Systems and Scanvægt have joined the Group at 7th of April and 4th of August respectively.

Public Offer by Marel hf 13–14 September 2006
Marel is offering 75,000,000 new shares for sale in a public offer. The offer will be in three parts, an offer to pre-emptive right holders, another to institutional investors and a third to the general public. The shares will be offered for sale at a price of ISK 74 per share. The total selling price of shares offered is ISK 5,550 million.

Growing to Meet Market Demands
Marel has been very visible this week. It published excellent half-year consolidated financial statements where among other things the company reported that the operating profit for the second quarter was the largest ever, or about ISK 399 million, and that the profit for the first six months was ISK 115 million.

New agent in China
The Shipyard of Dalian, China, has become the Marel agent for marine scales in Liaoning and Shangdong provinces. Located in the port city of Dalian, on the southern end of the Liaodong Peninsula, the company will service the ever increasing number of fishing vessels coming into ports in North East China for service, discharge and repairs. Fully trained service technicians will provide service for the new scale models, M1100 and M2200, along with older M1000 and 2000 models.

The Shipyard of Dalian, China, has become the Marel agent for marine scales in Liaoning and Shangdong provinces. Located in the port city of Dalian, on the southern end of the Liaodong Peninsula, the company will service the ever increasing number of fishing vessels coming into ports in North Eastern China for service, discharge and repairs. Fully trained service technicians will provide service for the new scale models, M1100 and M2200, along with older CP and M1000 and M2000 models.

With Russian and English speaking technicians and staff the Shipyard of Dalian will be able to service a wide number of Marel clients. The company has Marel marine scales on stock as well as all spare parts for the range of Marel scales. This makes it easy to service customers leaving for sea with sort notice.

Marel has sold onboard equipment to Russian and Chinese vesselsfor decades and the new agent in China will further strengthen the company’s services in the North Pacific.

Marel customers in China are delighted that with this new development they will be able to get local service in the region.
