Overview
Food Service and Case Ready
All models use a computerized vision system to accurately measure the volume of the product and a cutting blade to cut the product into portions. On all models, even greater accuracy can be achived by adding a special inweighing unit in front of the machine to weigh the product accurately before portioning. Similarly, a weight grader can easily be applied after the portioning machine to grade and/or batch the portions. The IPM integrates easily with MPS, Marel's production control system.
The IPM is accurate, reliable and fast, hygienic and easy to clean. The benefits of using the IPM are faster, more accurate portioning, higher yields, more throughput, increased productivity and reduced labor cost.
Precision
Suitable for use with salmon, whitefish and almost any other species, the Marel IPM lll LaserEye Intelligent Portioning Machine is the ideal solution for high-value portioning of fillets into pre-defined weights and shapes. Using the latest in 3-D laser vision technology, the IPM lll LaserEye automatically evaluates each piece before cutting, and then calculates the most economic cut configuration based on parameters pre-selected by the production manager, using the unit’s M3000 controller.
Performance
Like all Marel equipment, the IPM lll LaserEye is capable of operating as an independent unit, or as part of a complete Marel processing system. For optimal results in whitefish processing, two IPM machines are typically used on each processing line, one as a precutter and the other for portioning final portions. At the same time, experience has shown that using the IPM lll LaserEye in a system incorporating Marel intelligent batching can enable processors to achieve up to 100% fillet utilisation, with virtually no give-away.
Productivity
Operated at its rated capacity, the Marel IPM lll LaserEye dual-lane machine can perform the work of up to 8-10 people. Robust and highly reliable, the IPM lll LaserEye requires significantly less maintenance than conventional machines. Easily adaptable to new products, it cuts to a level of accuracy and consistency no human could ever hope to achieve, meaning higher yields, less trim, improved product quality, increased throughput, and a short payback time.
Features
Main features
- High-performance portioning
- Supreme precision and accuracy
- Continuous production flow - maximum utilisation
- Full yield control – reduced give-away
- Hygienic and easy to clean
Operation
The IPM III LaserEye is user-friendly and easy to operate. Controlled by the dynamic M3000 graphic indicator, the machine can be switched between pre-programmed processes with only one keystroke.
Design
Designed with maximum hygiene in mind, the IPM III LaserEye is extremely easy to clean.
Water resistant
The IPM III is water-resistant to IP65 standards and intended to withstand the rigours of the wash-down environment. Opening up the machine is simple and all parts are easily accessible for cleaning.
Ensuring Optimal Accuracy
The IMP III LaserEye is capable of portioning with unprecedented accuracy due to its high-resolution vision system, encoder controlled belt drive and servo driven knife system. An optional hold-down mechanism is available to prevent movement during cutting as well as a Dynamic In-weigher for online calibration.
Vision Systems
Marel provides two types of vision systems: Single view and multi view. The single view vision system is optimal for fish fillet portioning and optional for whole fish portioning as well. The new and patent pending multi-view vision system ensures optimal accuracy for large fish steaks, such as tuna and whole fish steaks.
The hold-down is used for preventing movement while cutting high value material such as tuna and whole fish steaks.
Dynamic In-weigher
A dynamic in-weigher is also available for increasing the accuracy and is especially useful when portioning whole fish or tuna steaks. The in-weigher is also useful for filets with non-uniform density such as smoked or salted filets. The in-weigher can be used as an online process controller ensuring correct calibration at all times.
