Marel winning lines
PROPAK CAPE 2011 - Marel launches, to the African market, a fully integrated end of line system for weighing, labelling and tracking.
The Marel end-of-line range brings high throughput efficiency, low running costs and high quality to any end-of-line requirement. Single machines to advanced, sophisticated lines can be integrated with Marel’s Innova management information software modules.
Rodney Macer-Wright, General Manager, Marel SA says the Marel end of line systems comprise hardware and software from Marel’s vast range of products, all of which complement each other in terms of design, performance and overall compatibility. This enables us to offer fully integrated systems that can be tailored precisely to our client’s needs which can be configured as required.
“All this comes from one reliable proven source, thereby enabling reduced ordering costs, simplified pre-delivery inspections, single team installation/commissioning and extensive after sales support available to the African market” he adds.
Marel will launch their end-of-line system to the African Market at Propak Cape 2011, which is to begin on the 25th of October at the CTICC. Marel representatives will be demonstrating these unique solutions at stand A36.
A typical integrated end-of-line system can include elements such as:
- Pack convergers
The main objective of the Multi-Lane Converger is to meet the need for channeling products from any multi-lane packing machine into a single line for presentation to a label applicator. The converger is quick and easy to adjust for different sized packs. - Pack turners
The pack turner rotates packs to wide edge leading thus ensuring correct presentation to the labeller. - Weigh Price Labellers
Packs coming through the line are weighed and then labelled according to the price per kilogram and the use by/sell by date. The Marel weigh price labellers ensure digital weighing accuracy, reliability and long print head life giving low running costs. - Metal detectors
As an option, packs can be run through an integrated metal detector to ensure the package contains no metal. Should any metal be detected, the pack will be rejected from the line. - Labelling
Once the packages reach the labelling station they can be labelled by a variety of labellers including top, bottom, C3 panel applicators. The Marel labeller range includes print and apply machines and applicators for pre-printed labels. - Stacker Indexer
Once products have been packed and labelled, the stacker indexer delivers a fixed number of packs, as a stack, to reduce operator workload and facilitate the manual loading of cartons or crates at the end of the packing line. - Packing Stations
The Marel packing station is a batching system for labelled product. The system operates at three batching levels: box, pallet and job. Each level has its own independent totals including item, weight and price. - Box/Crate labellers
Once the end product has been stacked and packed into the crates, the box/crate labeler, which is also capable of weigh price labelling, will apply the labels to any surface and area of the box. - Checkweighers
Checkweighers can be included in the process to ensure that fixed weight packs are within specified tolerances. - Innova tracking
Innova is Marel’s production control software which controls and monitors every step of the production, packing and labelling processes in one integrated solution.
“The Marel end of line integrated weighing, packing and labelling systems allow clients to start with the basic end of line machines and build onto their solution over time, ensuring continuous improvement and efficiency gains,” concludes Macer-Wright.
