Social responsibility

We treat people right

We care for our employees, our customers, and the communities we work in.

Our food processing solutions can both improve general well-being in the community and encourage economic progress. It all comes back to Marel's vision of a world where quality food is produced sustainably and affordably

We collect data to continuously monitor and improve our social responsibility strategy. Results from regular employee engagement and workplace diversity surveys, for example, help management understand what’s working and where we need to do better.

We actively find ways to support the communities in which we operate, such as through education and collaboration.

Treating people right is at the heart of how we do business.

We make our workplace safe

All workers have the right to a safe and healthy work environment. We do our utmost to make sure our employees have the necessary competences, tools and training to perform their work professionally and safely. Health, safety and environmental (HSE) considerations are built into our company culture.

Employee engagement is key

Our people drive the success of Marel. We provide a supportive and ambitious work environment that motivates our employees to make Marel’s vision their own.

A high level of employee engagement is key to the overall health of the organization. We encourage further education and career development and also offer employees a variety of in-house training courses.

We understand that our people have a life outside of Marel and need to go home after a good day’s work to live their lives and recharge. We offer flexible working hours, options for part-time work, maternity and paternity leave and other options to help employees find the right balance.

  1. Ensuring equal opportunity
  2. Promoting a company culture of tolerance, diversity and inclusion
  3. Acting decisively against bullying, violence and harassment
  4. Increasing Marel’s visibility as an employer of choice

We engage with local communities

We invest in the welfare of the communities in which we operate. We focus on educational outreach in collaboration with local learning institutions, and we offer our employees opportunities for continuing education.

Many of our production facilities offer internships and trainee programs to assist talented young professionals in developing their skills.

Sharing our know-how

Knowledge is our most valuable asset when it comes to transforming food processing. Sharing our knowledge can help raise the standard of living and enhance social and economic stability. This is one of the ways we contribute to sustainable development around the world.
