The Marel IceDoser is an innovative machine for dispensing the exact quantity of flake ice into fresh-fish boxes, ensuring that coverage is uniform and the excess weight kept to an absolute minimum. This precision greatly reduces transportation costs, particularly when air freight is involved.
Boxes with product are labeled with box weight and shipping information prior to ice dosing. A conveyor transfers the boxes to the IceDoser. A box scanner scans the label on each box to determine the amount of ice to be dispatched into the box.
Flake ice is delivered to the weighing bins from the ice container via the ice conveyor. The ice conveyor is dual lane, making it possible to prepare two batches simultaneously. The weighing bin releases the batch onto a buffer conveyor which then distributes the batch evenly into the box. A sensor is used to detect the box entering the ice dosing zone.
The quantity of ice in the container is monitored by a sensor which automatically transmits a request for more ice when the supply has dropped below a predetermined level. This ensures that a ready supply is always available, keeping the system's capacity at up to 16 doses per minute.
